METROPOLIS

 Metropolis notes:

Very biblical- heaven, hell, angel, devil, pentagram, holy, 7 deadly sins, life versus death- BUT God was not used to punish man, but man's machine, Maria= Mary, Eternal garden= Garden of Eden

Futuristic parts were done well- Rotwang's lab, "facetime", machine man

The city was left unified, but essentially in ruins. What does that mean for the reconstruction of society?

Value of the classes are not equal (lives)

Costumes- dark vs light, linear vs free, formal vs informal, clean vs dirty

Heart is the mediator of head and hands - speaking the same language but they could not understand each other

Evil must imitate good in order to get things done

We must remember our humanity in order to work together (love and protection)

    Perspectives on society:

-Society blindly follows a leader (religion, uprising, unifying) - Gullible/influential (social media             influencers)

-Worlds are extremely divided, and a mediator is needed (partisan society), "If you are not with                 me, you are against me"

        - We are dependent on machines/ the working class (institutional racism) -physical barriers

-Exploitation of human rights, people are disposable, workers are replaceable- but someone has to             do these types of jobs

-Reliance on technology- desensitize and dehumanize
